1965 200ci Air Cleaner & Valve Cover color
« on: November 21, 2019, 03:18:35 PM »
I need to paint my son's air cleaner.  I found the link below that suggests the closest paint color for the parts; however, there's nothing about a blue air cleaner and valve cover.  My son's are blue and I see several photos online with blue as the color.

Should they be blue?  If so, what's the closest match?

Not really up to speed on all things 6 cylinder but it might help to know the cars VIN or when it may have been built.

Have a fair number of original car pictures just don't want to offer any help without knowing we're focusing in on the same thing ;)
Though I think I know the answer want to be sure.

BTW there is a set of pictures (valve cover and air clearer are just visible in one) in the unrestored picture threads. Guess I should find time to add some more examples.

I won't have a suggestion about the closest current paints since I've not done one but hopefully another member that has applied the red recently will

Within a few thousand numbers is as close as I can get this time - 5T16182x

Color appears to be a bit bright from camera settings and the lighting

Maybe a better representation - same engine and color - different cars but all built at the same engine plant
