1968 San Jose GT 390 Fastback Console restoration
« on: September 26, 2019, 12:12:42 AM »
I am trying to find out if there is someone out there who restores consoles. I saw a post on Facebook on a Mustang page for a guy who claimed to restore them, but I can't find it so hopefully someone here knows someone. Mine is not bad, but I would like it as new looking if possible. I also saw a console at a car show that looked great, and it turns out the owner had a guy wrap his console in leather. It is not correct, but it looked great. Not sure what my options are and I hear that 68 4 speed console are hard to find and no reproductions are available.

Thanks
Mike

I purchased a restored 67'  4spd console from Bill Herndon years ago, still looks great. He used to have quite a few in stock, but that was a while back. He might restore them, or could point you in the right direction.

Can they take a 67 console and convert it to a 68 version? I have a 67 console in my 68 Sprint B.

Not easily since only the plastic base is (almost) the same.
Most other trim parts are different (68 is padded vs. 67 is non-padded).
