Should a 1966 power steering pump for a 200 6 cylinder be teal or black?

I finally found a 6 cylinder ford pump without the extra mounting stud through the back. I had a v8 pump on it for years trying to find a good original 6 cylinder pump. It is actually harder to find correct good parts for a 6 than a v8...go figure.

The one I found is a TRW. Did San Jose use TRW at that time? It took forever so I will probably use it anyway but if San Jose only used Thompson at the time I would probably paint it teal instead of black. Much closer than the V8 pump on there now, Even though it does have a correct pulley I put on in years ago and still have the v8 pulley sitting in a box.

Both TRW and Ford Thompson V8 pumps were used in 67 in comparable amounts from observations. It seems logical there for to assume that the 6cyl pump would follow suite in that MFG respect. I am not familiar with the 6 cyl placement but on the V8 the tag is extremely hard to read once mounted so in that case regardless of what color it is painted it is hard to tell right or wrong .

Guess you may have missed the pictures of the 66 San Jose 6  cylinder with PS in the unrestored picture thread. It has a Ford Thompson pump. Its VIN is pretty close to your car's.   Have a couple later examples (not as nice of condition) where its difficult to determine the original color due to the lightly and mentioned condition. On other examples angle was poor and the thermactor pump gets in the way

It's allot easier to read a PS tag on a 6 cylinder compared to everything else
