67 Deluxe seat brackets?
« on: May 22, 2011, 06:18:38 PM »
I am trying to install the seat brackets for the lower trim on my 67 Mustang w/Deluxe seats.  Could anyone provide me a picture or two of the lower cushion with the brackets installed, but not the lower side trim.

The seats I have are from a standard interior and there are no holes to mount the brackets and I am having trouble picturing the orientation of them.  Mike

Got lucky I guess - just took these last week. This is the earlier version (smooth inserts) so not sure if the brackets are the same or different but also double check the direction as it appears that the left and right seat in this example have the lower rear brackets installed in opposite directions.

Clip missing ;)

Thanks Jeff, you have come through again.  I guess I am lucky that you just received these.  Not only do I find it interesting in the difference in the orientation of the rear bracket, but how it is mounted.  The lower trim wraps around the rear and I can't picture how it would work mounted on the bottom of the frame.

I currently am having a knee problem, so it will probably be a few days prior to getting out in the shop and trying this set up.

After a visit to the Doc and some prescribed drugs my knee is much better.

Jeff your pics did the trick, once I had the seats in hand it all came together perfectly.  I never would of figured that rear bracket in that position.  Thanks for the help.

I thought I would mention for those reading that the early 67 deluxe interior Mustangs had a front and rear brkt for the lower trim and the later cars had a front ,rear and middle brkt. The early trim was only held on in two places the later versions (which were better engineered) were mounted with a screw in the middle also(3 places). Bob

It is interesting you mentioned that Bob, I thought I had something different.  Mine is a mid April '67 build and has the 3 brackets as you describe.

For whatever aditional information anybody might need on the break-off date, an Nov. 2nd of 66, San Jose is still the early type. Only 2 brackets used.

First the disclaimer - since these are often replaced, swapped with other cars and depending on the angle can be hard to see that third screw  no since observation should be used as hard evidence

With that said - went through my pictures and found the following

Earliest three screw versions I found were from 1/31, 2/2 & 2/7

Latest two screw versions I found were from 2/7, 5/11, 5/19

Last two dates appear to be out of range and are possible false leads

Just visited a very original 67 SJ convertible. 3rd owner and they knew the other two owners.
Original paint, original deluxe interior, chrome with only a few maintenance items changed.
Yes, even the deluxe seats had all the hallmarks of an original.

2 screw with an 08E plate date.

I forgot about this running change too.
If not already in the list, we should add it.

It's hidden in "I1", which talks about the brackets.
