If you are looking for high quality vinyl material, with canvas backing instead of cotton, I would suggest contacting SMS Auto Fabrics. They also offer a texture that is very close to original.

Thanks Scott, is the front pillar part of the whole side or sewn on?

Not sure I understand your question Richard. 1967-68 cars, as far as I know did not have seams on the A-pillars. 1969-70, they did have seems at some point in time.

We have a theory here at work. The bags used for convertible top pad storage, were made from scrap vinyl top material from the front and or rear windshield cutout / scrap.

That was the answer I needed to hear: NO SEAM ON A-Pillar. Online at NPD, there is no description found, I saw the No-seamed A-pillar listing in NPD's paper catalog.

I will probably call SMS as you suggest. I watched the video your store put out on Cougar tops, nice job there. I liked the meore expensive top offered for the Cougar and wondered if the supplier also did mustangs, knowing they are different than the Cougar top because of the lower section below backglass.

The whole roof of a Cougar is longer than a Mustang 1967-68 and 1969-70, on hard tops. Not just the section below the rear window. ;-)

...and the brad nails at the top corners of the windshield ;)

Are these nails re-usable? I haven't tried to pull any out yet.
Yes, they can be re-used I suppose. I will search for a new replacement but will retain these just in case.
