67 trunk drain rubber
« on: July 06, 2019, 11:00:04 PM »
There was a post in in the 69/70 section concerning drain rubber, which got me curious about 67s. I started poking around and found them:
Trunk Drain Rubber #C7ZB-65-11202-C
http://www.brownsautobodyservices.com/shop-very-large-parts/trunk-drain-rubber-c7zb-65-11202-c-sj
For San Jose cars. At $34 each, not cheap. But where do else do you find these?
MutangsUnlimited show them but they are out stock. And, I can't see the front so I can't validate a debossed part number.

Ed got Chris Brown to make them . Chris also has other items that will be of interest coming to market in the near future.

Yes, Chris made a post here a year or two back, I seem to recall. I tried to match my 67's to what he was offering at the time but it seems that mine were different.
How many versions of these are known to exist and do we have any rhyme or reason to usage dates and assembly locations besides Chris's website?

I can not say that all SJ cars had the rounded vents.
Here is a picture of our unrestored  68 HCS built 06/12/68 quarter vent.
I have no reason to believe that they have ever been replaced.

Most likely two different suppliers. We see that with many parts ,some MFG's of which end up being more prominently used depending on plant . I would guess that the supply to a given plant was supplemented as needed on some parts. Your example gives weight to that point of view.

By rounded I assume you mean the arched lettering style of Chris' part number versus the straight across lettering style of yours?

Yes arched part numbers. Sorry I was not clear.
