67 390 fan part number
« on: July 02, 2019, 07:35:44 PM »
Hello all, I just bought a fan shroud for my 67 s code gta with ac only to find the width is too small for the radiator... so it looks like the radiator is from a different model/year. I couldn’t find a part number (I haven’t pulled it yet but I will if I need to) Any advice on where to look?
Can someone confirm the part number for the fan? Mustangtek says C6OE-D for 67 Mustang 390 4 speed, is it different for automatic/air conditioned? I see C6ME-A for 67 390/428 “Ford” with AC but it doesn’t designate for mustang.
Assuming the radiator is from a later model big block car (or truck?) should I use a different fan until I can get the correct 67 390 radiator?

Thanks for your help!

I believe the correct fan is C6OE-F.  It is a 7 blade clutch fan 18 1/4" dia.

The correct fan shroud for your application is a C7ZE-A and are very hard to find. Where was your car built ?

1967 390 radiators are one year only, and measured 22 inches. They clamp in like later years and have special lower mounting saddles, that are fairly narrow.

It is common to install 1968-70, 24 inch radiators in 1967's.
Am not aware of a correct reproduction 22 inch Mustang radiator for 390 engines.

The C6OE-F fan will work fine regardless of if the original 22 inch factory 67 radiator or replacement 24 inch radiator. That is if you use the appropriate fan clutch which is the part that provides the correct spacing between the fan and the radiator. You will have to find A 67 22 inch factory radiator as a core to use . As has been mentioned a reproduction of the 22 inch big block radiator doesn't seem to be available. There is a nice reproduction of the 67 fan shroud that you can use until you find a genuine one . The genuine C7-A fan shrouds sell for 12-1500.00 in good condition. Be careful of fakes . The fakes typically do not have the FoMoCo trademark.

Ok so same as the 4 speed then

I was also considering getting a larger fan and shroud to fit the 24” radiator until I can gather the correct pieces

Fixed the clutch part number insert picture to a Mustang rather than the earlier Shelby version. Sorry its not as easy to read but shows the location of the number for those who need to search for one
