Mach 1 Side Scoop Questions
« on: May 02, 2019, 03:30:51 PM »
Hi all,

I am in the middle of a re-paint and have a few questions regarding my 69 Mach 1 Q-code assembled in Dearborn.

1) Do the scoops have some kind of seal or backing or are they simply fastened to the quarter panel?

2) What color should the side scoop block off inserts be? Color of the car or black satin?

Thank you,
John

They have strip caulk on the back, because they're painted separately so water would get in otherwise.
Probably the same grey stuff used under the front fenders for example.
Considering the inner fenders are painted black, why black caulk wasn't used to blend in instead of grey sticking out like a sore thumb is a mystery to me.
Anyway, it is what it is.
The scoop block offs are black, not body color.
Some people just think they are because of cheap, lazy repaints with the scoops not removed from the car.
