Trunk Mat
« on: May 24, 2019, 10:39:55 PM »
What was the most common type of trunk mat used on a 68 Shelby? The original mat was gone from our car when we got it. I have see both Burtex and felt mats on Metuchen cars.
Thanks for any help.

The speckled mat was the most common . The grey felt mat was much more rare but still seen throughout production in assemblyline cars .The plaid sewed corner mat is the rarest /least common and only appropriate for the earliest built cars in 68 IMO.

Have you seen a speckled mat with sewn corners. The ACC speckled mats have sewn corners.

I have only seen the plaid burtex mats with sewn corners . I have a high confidence level that the speckled mat should not be sewn.

Thanks that is what I thought. If I buy one I will have to rip it out.

Just to fill out the group felt style mats would not have been sewn either from the original examples I've seen
