Topic: Paint Code for '68 Taillight covers inside trunk

I apologize if this has been covered somewhere else, but my searches haven't found it.

I'm looking for a paint code or part number for the bluish grey color on the cardboard tail light covers in a 1968 Shelby trunk.

I know someone is selling the cardboard pieces already painted, but I already have a pair, I would like to paint.

There are a number of different methods . One way is using some rattle can gray primer paint and a satin clear coat on top of that gets it very close in comparison. I may take some experimentation with a few different gray primer paint and a spray card to get the closest match. The clear coat makes a big difference.

 Some suggestions I would make. Rather than use gray primer which in my humble opinion is not close I would use 63 Volkswagen Baltic blue and make sure it comes out of the gun fairly flat     The other issue that you’re going to face if you’re just painting the dark Reproductions is they are the wrong cardboard and will not bend properly. And easier solution might be to just buy the Reproductions that Jack Brooks makes. I worked hand-in-hand with him to develop these off of original parts and not only have the correct shape, color but they also have the makers Mark stamped into them. Very high-quality Reproductions.

I totally agree and would buy the Dead Nuts On concourse correct ones, but I'm building a Shelby clone and already have these cardboard pieces. I can get the paint cheap/free so for now the ones I have will have to do. If I had to buy the paint, It would probably be cheaper to buy the right ones.

Funny thing is I dated a girl in high school with a Baltic Blue Volkswagon.  I had to repaint the fender for her...
