Valve Cover PCV Baffle Filter?
« on: April 03, 2019, 12:50:35 PM »
Crazy question but I'll ask anyway...

Is there any chance OE valve covers originally had a mesh material inside the PCV baffle like the attached photo? Or is this simply someone's attempt to reduce oil mist from being sucked into the intake?

I realize it's highly doubtful, I only ask because I have seen this more than once on original used SB covers. In fact, I've seen it enough that it made me wonder...

Thanks,
Dave

That “mesh” is not factory installed.  It’s an attempt to keep oil from getting sucked into the PCV valve and into the intake.  I suspect those valve covers are not original, something was changed in the valve train or somebody thought it should be there.
