65-68 Cowl vent grilles overspray etc
« on: May 02, 2019, 03:56:45 AM »
Wondering how the viewable inside of the cowl vent panel should look. My cowl panel is rust free (replaced?) and my endoscope inspection revealed no rubbish around the vent hole etc, so I'm not cutting it apart just to repaint it. Presently all it has inside is a light green primer from the PO.

So am I right in guessing it should be red oxide with overspray of body colour through the vent grilles?
If so how much body color should there be down in there? % of coverage etc?

I was thinking of using an airbrush to spray some 2K body color down in there before I finish coat the car.

You should only see body color through the top cowl vent opening grills typically. Of course the paint was not as heavy as it would be on top of the cowl and thinner as you move out and away of the openings

Remember that even with red-oxide as the base primer, on the outer-facing panels, they were sprayed with light gray primer before paint.
