Topic: Sway bar Bolt Direction?

So I’ve been watching the progress on Branda’s son restoring a 64.5 pace car and the direction of the bolts on the sway bar came up. He has the built facing up with the nuts on top of the frame rail and the head of the bolt underneath. I thought it went the other way. Is there a correct way or is it like the coil spring covers where Dearborn did one way and San Jose did another way? Did a search and didn’t find anything on the forum

Not that it's something specific to Pace Car coupes, but the one I restored had the bolts in the up direction with the nut on top of the sway bar connection.

Looks like you have a number of items and I personally would rather not comment on someone else's efforts that has not asked for it in a public forum.

Guess as part of your question your asking about the direction of the bolts that hold the coil spring covers to the engine compartment. Yes they were installed in different directions (should be a number of examples in pictures in the Unrestored Picture section of this site) depending on where the car was built.

You did say "frame rail" as opposed to "lower "A" arm" so there should have not been any confusion. I've seen a couple of 65-66 Shelby sway bar bolts from the bottom, but attribute that to being a Shelby peculiar installation, maybe even "owner" installed.

+1 Me also. Guess that its due to eh fact that the end link swap bar hardware has been such a much discussed detail over the years so just assumed that it returned for discussion again.


Two examples from each plant for 65 but didn't hunt through to narrow the search just to the Dearborn Pace Car period. Likely could do that if needed.
NOTE: Hardware details can differ between plants and years.

As a reference, the pace car I restored had RBW sway bar frame mount bolts.  I had the originals re-plated as there is no reproduction available.
