1970 Wiper Pivot Leather Seals
« on: October 30, 2018, 01:14:52 AM »
I went to install my wiper transmission assembly the other day and found that the SD leather gaskets P/N C7ZZ-17A475-BL, I had purchased locally do not fit, way to small. After doing some surfing on the net it seems that leather gaskets for the 69 and 70 mustangs are difficult to source or do not exist. I would like to know if the 1970 Dearborn built mustangs actually came with these leather seals/gaskets or not and if so where to get the correct ones.

69-70 mustang used a cowl panel & 65-68 didnt and 69-70 wiper pivots mounted differently from outside of car so the gaskets werent needed.

Great thanks, there where none on the car during disassembly and makes sense what needs to be sealed right, nothing, but I just wanted to make sure as the SD website shows 1967 to 1970 leather ones available.

So my next problem is which way does the wiper motor swing arm face when attaching to the driver side or passenger side??
Also assume the spring type washer goes between the swing arm and the motor housing?

Perfect, thanks Jeff, it does point to the drivers side when mounted and not to the passenger side, also figured that out after a bit of trial and error if mounted pointing to the passenger side the wipers would be in the up position when the motor is in the stop position.

I see in the two pictures that overspray is on both wiper covers and some on the arms.....is this factory or something from a previous body shop paint job?  The red 70 I am restoring has overspray on the arms and the plastic cover and I was not sure if it was suppose to be there.  Thanks

These would have not be installed when the body was painted body color originally
