6 cylinder firewall ground strap
« on: October 14, 2010, 11:25:01 PM »
As far as I know the ground strap gets attached by one of the starter bolts.  The question is which one?  Ive seen it attached with either of the top bolts.

Jeff,

You picture is consistent with what I have observed on many Metuchen 6-cylinder junkyard mustangs.

Guys,
I apologize for sort of highjacking this thread but there is something I'm trying to find out that was shown in Jeff's picture above.  My 67 200 had a linkage coming off the carburator that appears to go to a bracket on the firewall.  Jeff in the picture you posted above you can just see it at the top of the picture.  In this picture of my car you can see the linkage arm and a plate held to the firewall with two bolts.

What I'm trying to find is that bracket; or barring an actual bracket is information such that I could fabricate a new one.

thanks for allowing me to interrupt; we'll now return to our regular scheduled programming,
Bruce

I am sure they are tossed all the time by people doing V8 swaps.  The trick is catching them before they toss it.   I checked the other engine I have and I have the linkages but no bracket.  It does seem rather simple to fabricate.  I don't really want to take mine off to sketch up but if you are really forced to make one up I could probably sketch it out.  I think you can find one though.
