A guy has a brand new Genuine Ford NOS rear bumper for a 69-70 Mustang in the Ford wrapper. Ford part number C9ZZ-17906-A. I can't find one anywhere else. I can find fronts. Are the rears that rare. What would you pay for it???

69/70 NOS rear bumpers are sought after because Most (all) repros are too wide ....   I'd pay 500.00 for it but you could probably get more. The bad part is that unless it's a really old NOS part, the Chrome can be pretty bad (grinder marks, ect), and the dates pretty visible so they don't appeal to the "date correct" crowd.  I used NOS bumpers from the late 80's on one of my CJ's and had them rechromed.

Keep looking on Ebay, they show up time to time...

Just reread your post, didn't realize your a buyer, not a seller.  If your original rear bumper isn't really crunched or pitted, you may do better having it rechromed. I'd expect to pay 500 - 700 for it ....

Don't follow prices much but you want to check any NOS or service part over closely for damage or shelf wear. The reason some of these parts are not on a car is because someone ordered them through a dealership then refused them once they saw the condition. Lots of examples and stories about those days

Also consider that the new one will likely not match the date range that is appropriate for your car if you worry or are concerned about being numbers matching

On the Shelby I had a Ford C7ZZ-A rear bumper from the middle/late 80s. It still has the Ford tag on it. The chrome is fairly nice and the fit is good. But ...
I took an original Ford bumper off my parts car and noticed that each of the horizontal bends had visibly sharper bends or edges.
It appears Ford made so many of these things that their molds were already getting worn out by the 80s.

It actually looks weird to see such sharp edges on a bumper since all you generally see are repops or later Ford bumpers using worn out molds.

Find an original assembly line version and have it rechromed.
