Heater Hoses Routing
« on: October 22, 2018, 12:27:51 AM »
Hi Everyone,

While in Steamboat Springs for a car show the heater core on my 69 Sportsroof decided to go out.  I cut the hoses just inside the firewall and attached them with plastic elbow temporarily.  So I just replaced the heater core and do not remember the hoses routing.

My confusion is the chassis assemble manual page 13 shows the upper hose (in) from the intake manifold.  The lower hose (out) to the water pump.

The 69 shop manual shows on page 16-01-22 figure 27 shows the upper hose (out) to the water pump.  The lower hose (in) from the intake manifold.

On page 16-01-32 figure 42 shows the heater core as the lower hose as the (in) and the upper hose as the (out).

The car is a 390-4V and non ac.  I did a search but nothing came up for a 390-4V non ac car.  Any advice or pics would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mark

No great numbers of original unrestored cars to fall back on so I'll offer this. Looked at the 69 S codes I have pictures of as well as Q and R code non-AC cars and 98% or so all had the same routing of water pump to upper heater hose at the firewall.

Just what I found.  ::)

Thanks Jeff.  I was leaning that way but want to get it right the first time.  Note to self...mark the hoses before cutting.  Thanks Mark
