Radiator support hood bumper question
« on: August 12, 2018, 03:22:53 PM »
70 Dearborn B2,  Build May 1970 (also 1970 Mach 1, Metuchen 9/69)

Could someone please post a picture of an original hood bumper that mounts on the radiator support? I am interested in seeing the stamping on the rubber and  if possible, and the how bright/dull the Zinc Dichromate gold finish is on the threaded shaft.

Thanks again,
Tony

In the pictures I have of originals the markings are worn away so only some digits and few letters remain

As for  how much dichromate was used on the base for the bumper I would just have them plated than reduce the depth/intensity with vinegar to the point where the color is noticeable but no vibrant

None of the originals I've got have visible dichromate on the visible threads its only after you move the locking nut that the gold is seen after all these years

Thanks for the feedback folks. Much appreciated. I like that idea on the vinegar.
