Topic: Windshield foam strip ?

Hi,  I have read that there is a foam strip placed on top of the lower edge of the windshield to protect the glass from wear from the trim.  My 69' Dearborn car did not have this when I removed it.  So,  does anyone know where I can buy it?  I have looked online but cannot locate one.  Thanks
Just wanted to add.  If I cannot find this foam strip I have enough of the foam leftover from the roof rail weatherstripping that I could cut to size.  Problem is that I don't know the correct thickness for a correct placement on the windshield.

Yes, that’s a hard one to find as it’s often forgotten. I saved a few pieces when I took my car apart. I have not sourced it. I’m sure someone here has. Iirc, it’s about 3/8” wide and 3/8” thick. It’s also very dense as it just turns rock hard with age like an old sponge.  Oh, black of course.

My measurement is about 1/4 inch square, accounting for compression and age. 1969 and 1970 Dearborn Cougar examples. 1969 is right along the lower edge of the glass, 1970 has a distinct gap. I know, two examples is not a trend.
I can see two benefits for this piece of foam:
1. It prevents the lower windshield trim from rattling.
2. It acts as a dam to prevent water from going directly into the cowl.

Thanks krelboyne,  so the foam on your car is a 1/4 x 1/4 square ?   I have the door channel  foam weatherstrip that is 1" wide and 1/8" thick that I could double up for the 1/4" thick and then trim the width.   Any thoughts on using this for the foam.
