Flywheel question.
« on: June 27, 2018, 02:48:33 PM »
Hi all! Putting this '66 GT ( A code, 4 speed )back together and noticed that the flywheel is quite worn. It may be beyond saving. NPD and some of the other suppliers list a replacement with a 157 tooth ring gear. I've counted this one 3 times and come up with 160 teeth. Any ideas?
  Casting number is C3OE-6380 B

              Thanks ,  Pete.

The original ring gear had 160 teeth. The service replacement ring gear was changed to 157 teeth to improve starter engagement.

If the face of your flywheel does not have micro cracks, you can have it resurfaced and change out your ring gear.

It is really worn, but does not look like it has ever been cut. I may be able to have it surfaced and save it. I guess it's up to the machine shop, and how much is left after they surface it.
 Thanks for the info.
