Brake Booster ID
« on: June 10, 2018, 05:16:33 PM »
Can someone tell me the correct brake booster for my 289 4spd car that was built on 4/17/67 at the Dearborn facility? My current brake booster has failed and I want to make sure I am going back with the correct unit. Thanks for any input.

You should seriously consider having the original rebuilt as they are expensive and hard to come by,  known as a ross/midland type. I have one in transit from booster Dewey and not only are they experienced but it seems that they do a rebuild for less than the cost of the rebuild parts that NPD sells as a kit.

The Ross/Midland Booster has a band-strap that joins the two halves of the booster together, if this is what you now have, YES, I agree with the other's recommendation to send it to Booster Dewey.

If any other booster is found that does not have this type of band-strap joining the two halves, you will need a good core. West Coast Classic Cougar has posted a great video to YouTube on how to identify 67-70 Mustang/Cougar brake booster differences. If you need help finding the link, just ask back.
