I am working on a 68 coupe built in Dearborn 7-25-68. The car was blasted and no pictures were taken. I am looking for under carriage pictures for this time frame.

From what I have collected in the spring of 68 into summer Dearborn bounced back and forth between batch and a dark red oxide finish for the firewall rearward on the Mustangs and Cougars. Focusing on your specific date (7-25-68 as reported assuming its the real date from a Marti report) the closest match I have is from a car finished the day before which is reported to have been painted with the dark gray batch color like we've discussed on the site a number of times.

Of course the floor color was applied during the first half of the build do that car could have been painted on the same day as yours or a day or two before but as close as I can get at the moment

My June 2nd Dearborn-built coupe has the metallic gray color.  I have found that it is an exact match to the color of styled steel wheels.  If you need photos, let me know.

Not weird for Dearborn. That looks like one of the more common seen batch shades (relatively speaking) that I have seen on 69 Dearborn cars.

I know that this is an older thread, but I have a 68 CJ produced on 7/16/68 according to Marti.  Charles, I would like to duplicate your color as I think it is appropriate for my car.  Would you mind sharing your paint product and mix?  Also, do you guys agree on the color for my build?  Thanks!
