66 San Jose A/C Question
« on: March 27, 2018, 06:34:41 PM »
Is it the case that if your 66 GT Mustang Coupe has the hole stamped in the firewall with the correct grommet fitted for A/C, then the car was fitted with A/C from the factory?  Did they only stamp the cutout for A/C fitted cars?  When I bought it had no air conditioning fitted but the previous owner had blocked the holes in the A/C grommet that was fitted to the firewall.  As far as I can tell there is no such 'blank' grommet available for vehicles without A/C.

Good point.  Not sure where the holes may be in the radiator support but I'm having a look on Google images

No all at San Jose in 66 got the punch out in the firewall and firewall pad. No unusual for PO's to knock it out and use it for other purposes. Running oil pressure lines, wires for a stereo.......

There is no grommet just a section of firewall sheet metal plenty of threads on the site of firewalls and such. Don't need IMHO to search the web looking at who knows what someone posted ;)

No they are not the same. Completely different years.
