66 San Jose Interior Paint Marks
« on: March 16, 2018, 05:49:27 PM »
Just thought I would share these not that one would ever see these on a finished car I thought it was interesting that there was a reason and/or purpose for all of these to be applied.

Approx end of Jan first part of Feb 66 car.

Looks like they were either testing or cleaning their brushes...  ::)

Yup. Could have been practice for a food fight.

Here is picture from another 66 San Jose steering column shaft. Similar paint marks on it the purple is really faint but there. Vin 6R07C1430xx don’t have access to the build date right now the door tag is in a box on the shelf.

Scheduled build would be around December 12, 1965. Ref: Mustang Production Guide.

"Looks like they were either testing or cleaning their brushes... "

I'd tend to believe that unless it's found in every car and the pattern is systematically the same...

They might be "Check-Marks" for workers assembling the underdash assemblies.. such as wiring completed, cluster installed, wiring plugs installed, etc.

Just an educated guess...

More likely associated with the steering box itself. Things like filled, lash set, assembler, inspector and so on

Just a fair number of marks - apparently the one I posted more than some others
