Car was delivered to FORD MOTOR COMPANY FIGESO
153 HALSEY ST
NEWARK NJ 07100

Dead end!  Looks like I'm back to tracking the car back from last known owner to see if the original owner was a service man.  Leaning towards that direction.

My '70 Mach T5 was also delivered to this facility. FIGESO was the Ford International General Export Sales Office. Its a vacant lot now.

My research shows this Dealer may have been doing some funny stuff like saying it was an export car for a service member then calling the factory after they received the car and stating that individual was now coming back to the states.  This way the dealer could avoid having to pay some sort of tax or something of the sort because from what I understand it was excluded on Export cars probably because of the tariffs imposed during shipping.   Because the car was not getting shipped it now didn't have any Tariff costs (dealer loop hole).   Skipping both export tax and local taxes.  Not sure how much of that story is true or if service individual really did ordered it but the odd thing is I have no order received date or sold date on my Marti report.     (This is going to take time researching and learning about the American Selling Price Valuation System that Lyndon Johnson overhauled in 1968 - obviously it impacted auto sales back then)

So with that discovery it got me thinking about strange marks I found on the fender.
These marks are directly under the emblem location on the fender.  My question to you folks is did they put the T5 emblem on at the plant then ship the car to the dealer?   My guess is yes, why wouldn't they.   Is that emblem the exact same hole pattern as normal US emblems?  Reason I ask is it almost looks like someone took a screw driver and popped off the emblem (possibly the T5) switched it with a normal emblem normally seen in the U.S.  I doubt the last person restoring it would have been so careless because they were trying to restore it so this leads me to believe this occurred back in 1968 with a emblem switch or someone simply stole it during its past history.  I'm going to check if the other fender has the same marks  on the other fender and will post a pick.  If the holes are totally different then this lead is a dead end.

Thanks

Thanks

Don't think a story and a maybe is a discovery ::)  Lets try and stay with what can be proved or at least what evidence is present.

Have seen a number of export cars what were sold to military members that were not exported due to change of orders. Didn't change what they paid or got around taxes (if there were any in their state in 68) for the sale.

These marks are directly under the emblem location on the fender.  My question to you folks is did they put the T5 emblem on at the plant then ship the car to the dealer?

Yes the emblems were put only on the cars going to at specific use at the plant since they knew ahead of time where the car was going.

Evidence of someone prying off an emblem does not prove that the car had a T5 emblem on the car IMHO. Does the car still have its original paint on the fenders? If so post a picture and lets see if there is a bleached pattern showing the outline of a different emblem.  A picture of the trunk lid would also be helpful but at this point you have not offered anything that suggests it was a T5 and that's ok its still an export car or was built as one.

Car was sand blasted and delivered to me basically in boxes.    What does the trunk lid show?  It is off the  car thus i could take a photo of many sides and still not provide what one is look is looking for.  Are the T5 hole attachment layout the same as US?

It would show if the trunk lid had the Mustang like the pictures I posted earlier like other export cars

Those holes (in your picture) appear to be for the standard running horse emblem as anticipated not for a T5 emblem
