Driveshaft identification

Hi,

I was looking at the driveshaft from my k car and want to know if it is original, is there a way to tell.  I didn't see a weight on the front of it  There are numbers on the inside 7576jm (ft side)...Trans slip yoke numbers look like 22067...Oh this is a July 65 San Jose built car

I have attached pictures of the 2 sides.

I'm replying to this just to see if anyone else has some thoughts about this. I have the exact same drive shaft and slip yoke in my San Jose 1966 February 10th build date K-Code automatic car. I'm currently talking with Jack at DeadNutsOn and we are a little confused about this slip yoke, the drive shaft has been confirmed original, but it's odd that two cars from San Jose have this exact same slip yoke, inside snap rings... I've searched around and not finding much other info except an old auction on ebay with a drive shaft also pulled from... you guessed it, a 65 "San Jose" car with the same slip yoke and number, interesting, yes?

Has anyone else found this slip yoke in their car?

Yep, exactly the same, I also found this other slip yoke pulled off another Mustang on ebay, all the same numbering and the same W and 19 on the shoulders... also sharing with Jack as I mentioned over at DeadNutsOn to get his thoughts...

When answering the question of if correct for "my" k code after you confirm the parts understand that the parts are used on some non K code models also. The driveshaft length and its relation to how much of the slip yoke hangs out of the rear trans seal is just as important. The picture posted is typical for a correct length 4 speed driveshaft regardless of if k code or not. The K code length specs (posted in the past)are available here someplace  In making a correct looking K code drive shaft you cut both (appropriate) ends off a donor driveshaft and along with appropriate slip yoke have it re tubed. The correct vintage looking weights seem to be the biggest stumbling block. FYI I noticed in NPD's catalog that they are selling a u joint made without grease zert and hollow center similar to assemblyline.

Looks like they are only for 67+  :-\

So I just heard back from Jack at DeadNutsOn after sharing the pictures and some of my findings, he did confirm our drive shaft and slip yoke and the tube yoke are original Ford assembly line parts, so good news there.

Bob, I was really just trying to find out if my drive shaft and slip yoke I took off my K-Code automatic car was original, the car drove great with it in the car, so part of me thought maybe it had been replaced and not seeing this type of slip yoke before made me question it, so before I restored it or took it to DeadNutsOn, I wanted to make sure what I had was legit or that I didn't need to find any additional items before going through the process.

Anyway, if anyone finds this slip yoke and drive shaft on their car with these markings, it's real...
