70 Mach1 Suspension Paint Marks

My 11/26/69 Dearborn 70 Mach1 351 cleveland  3 speed has this violet paint mark on the inside of the  top control arm.
Is this paint mark a common mark on a 70 car or is it from a later car?


I don't have the build sheet for this car but what colour paint markings are on Mach1 front shocks and coil springs and has anyone got any photos what they look like with the paint marks?
Is there any other marks anyone has seen for a car with that build date?

Ok what I can see in the parts books for the front springs is the colour marks should be gold and tan stripes. But do the front shocks have any paint marks on them?

We are a bit short of information to answer your questions in the best possible way.

Does the car have PS or AC?

Paint marks, such as your front coil springs, will differ based on the information above.  The part replacement books often list what was available not what was original or combine similar applications together to reduce the needed inventory the service department and Ford would have to have made or stock

Sorry jeff yes has PB,PS & AC.
I don't know if the tires made a difference but it came with E70X14.

Front Shocks - White
Rear Shocks - Violet

Front Springs - 1 Gold stripe & 1 Tan stripe since it has AC
Rear Springs - 2 Yellow stripes & 2 brown stripes

Are the paint marks on the shocks a stripe around the whole shock?
Do you have a picture of what the mark would look like?

Is this white paint marks normal on the stub axle?
Did the Dearborn cars have the red nuts for the ball joint to stub axle?

I don't have other examples in pictures or notes. Suggest you document and replace the marks as found

I haven't seen them done that way before. Red hardware typically relates to special safety practices and torque practices originally highlighted in 68 with a new program then.

I only asked that because I have seen another post ( I can not find again) that was talking about the red marked nuts that go on the yellow stud of the ball joints but the car came from a different assembly plant I was not sure if Dearborn did the same thing or not. I see in the assembly chassis manual that it lists the nuts as S100 finish and I have seen other nuts & bolts with that S100 finish having red markings on them.
