Early 67 parking brake hardware diffrences?

I was looking through some of my pictures to see if i had one of the parking brake equalizer lever and i found this picture.



It looks like it has the longer cable connector that my shop manual has labeled for a cougar.  It also has a spacer behind the nut on the equalizer rod.  I have the spacer and when I cleaned it up I found FoMoCo stamped on it.  Was this an early change or is the shop manual wrong?  What finish should be on these pieces?  Too bad the picture isn't clear enough to answer my other question.

It would seem that if the spacer is not used on the adjuster rod it would allow the cable to extend farther so that the shorter Mustang cable connector could be used. The Cougar body was longer and needed the extra length gained by the longer cable connector. I can't remember coming across this arrangement on a early 67 Mustang before. Bob

I was thinking maybe they ran out of the mustang type connector and just grabbed one off of the cougar line but that doesn't explain where they found the spacer.
Anyone recognize the spacer from somewhere else?

If the scenerio happened as you say (which is possible) they would have had to come up with the spacer from some other application as you speculate. It looks similar to the spacer on the BB clutch fork adjuster.  Bob

I went to a friend's house who restores Mustangs -- although he is now winding down -- and came away with the correct connector. The thread that started all of this is here:

This is another good reason to buy the the Osborne (chassis) manual, which list the longer part as an S-77 piece.
S-77?
Then I realized S-77 is the code name for Cougar.
