Date Code
« on: September 08, 2010, 12:19:00 PM »
About how far apart would the date code on a fuel pump be from the assembly date of the car/engine in 1965 SJ?  Would the date code on the pump correspond within the same month?

Would expect the fuel pump to be the same or a month or 2 back from the date on the engine tag.

I have run into at least one instance where the fuel pump on a late '65 SJ car (June 65 engine date) was dated way before.  This particular car had a Oct. 64 dated pump.  It seemed unusual to me, but we are pretty sure the pump is original, since it was a 3939S on a HiPo car.  This may not be typical though.

Agree with Brant that there are always exceptions to the trends.
