65-66 Dash Speaker
« on: September 01, 2010, 10:56:53 AM »
Does anyone know if the original 65-66 Dash Speakers had a top mesh covering over the speaker cone?

The NOS (Ford Service) speakers did not have this, but I'm not sure about the assembly line parts.

Thanks.

Brant, I am pretty certain that the original speaker in my 65 had a cloth mesh cover, and it was black or possibly a dark grey.  And for the most part very fragile.  The paper cone was trashed and i tossed it about 1986.

Brant,
My first Mustang was an April '64 car and I remember it having a cloth mesh as you were asking about. I too tossed it back in '87 because the paper cone and cloth cover were turning to dust. Wished I had kept the speaker and the car for that matter.

Bryan and John,

Thanks for the replies.  It really makes sense for them to have had the mesh across the top.
