1968 instrument cluster housing paint
« on: December 11, 2017, 09:45:38 AM »
Hi All,  I'm restoring the my 1968 dash cluster and have stripped the metal housing.  Looking for suggestions on a good matching paint for the back silver-gray side and the inside flat white side.  Thanks for your help....Jack

You could metal finish the out side and coat it with clear. Any flat white would work for the inside. I use a lot of Rust Oleum  products

Shooting the insides with a gloss white will improve the brightness of the lights one assembled - just a thought. Difference might not even be noticeable

LED lights are a big improvement too if you are not concern about authenticity. A better original housing might be another option, they are not hard to find.

Keep in mind that the dash lights may ground to the housing, so any paint could interfere with that.
