I purchased the tach in the picture.  It doesn't come with a Shelby GT-350 bracket to mount to the dash. 

I found this auction but it says "NOT for use on the ORIG. FACTORY MADE 66 SHELBY DASH TACHS FOR USE on SUN STYLE TACHS"

Question 1:  What is the difference between a sun style tach and a original factory made 66 Shelby Dash tach?
Question 2:  Is this the correct bracket I need for the tachometer have?

Looks like you purchased an over the counter 66 style tach. Looks pretty aged so likely not a repo but you can check the back side of the tach workings for a date stamp

Allot - Suns of that period required a light second box normally mounted in the engine compartment. Both were made by different companies.

Question 2:  Is this the correct bracket I need for the tachometer have?

You didn't post a picture of a mounting bracket Believe there were two brackets available one for steering wheel mounting and one for dash (66 Shelby style) mounting

A sun style Tach typically has a longer and more rounded shape rear can. I did not see a picture of the bracket to determine if correct or not. I believe Branda sells the correct bracket. Your Tach is not original to a GT350 by the chrome can (which can be painted wrinkle black ) but more importantly by the color and shape of the needle.I suppose it is the next best thing given it is at least a 9 K rpm version. There was a 6K version too.

Please remember that an original 66 tach is connected to the plus side of the coil via the resistor wire
(like a rally pack) while most other tachs are connected to the negative side of the coil. This may be one of the
latter.

It looks like an original (or a bit later, but like original) tach. I don't believe it's a later reproduction that wires up differently than the original. Of course, the wires on the one you have there are just cut off short. It's a common occurrence even though they are easily unplugged.
