Trunk Seal 1970 Mustang
« on: November 08, 2017, 01:46:25 PM »
Can anyone tell me which side of the trunk seal goes against the trunk lid.
The new seal I have was installed by the body shop and they put the seal wide side against the lid and narrow side as the seal against the body.
I think this is correct or should it be reversed.
I believe the repro seal is Daniel Carpenter

Never replaced a 70  nor have a car at home to check. Here are a few pictures attempting to show the profile in hopes that they might help. Problem is that once installed and shaped by the compression of the trunk lid to trunk opening the shape changes

Generally the tall sides are towards the outer edge and the smaller or open edge is towards the inside on other years and models  if I recall correctly

Hope this helps

The narrow side goes against the deck lid. So looks to be backward.
