Rear Valance design
« on: December 02, 2017, 08:51:43 PM »
Not sure if I worded that correctly in the Subject box, but here's the puzzle:  When did Ford change the shape of the 11 holes on top of the rear valance that accept the small sheet metal attaching screws?  On the rear valance on my 1965 Mustang--San Jose/scheduled build date of 2/5/65--the holes are slotted to allow for some lateral adjustment.  On another rear valance I have of unknown originality, the 11 holes are not slotted, but are round 1/4" diameter holes.  If you look at the top of the valances in the attached pictures, you can better see what I'm trying to describe.  I like the slotted holes because of the additional room for adjustment they allow for, but I'm curious which came first--round or slotted--and when was the transition made from one shape to the other.  Thanks, Ron...
