Nice bit of work thank you.   Identifying difference's between the 67-68 hood hinge and 69-70 version is the upper arms  are ' cut differently '.  The upper arm on my 69 measure's end to end  11".  Same for the 67-68 ?  Brian

Brian....I didnt really look at those measurements, but wanted to just give people just a quick visual guide on the difference.  If you look at it you can see the difference and no mistake which hinge you have.

One thought that struck me as soon as I opened the article was that the first pictures are not in cronilogical order like the next page and pictures are

Just a fine detail but thought I would mention it  since it looked out of place is a way

Your list the S1 hood springs for the 65-66 Shelby but you might include a foot note to see the description on the following page where it explains that that spring may not be correct or be only one of two originally used. You might also consider to include that no springs were used on some early Shelby applications ;)

As always great effort - just a couple of things that stood out in a quick look

What are the dimensions for the 65 spring?
Perhaps some clear indications of what the differences between the 63-66 hinges and the 67/68 versions.
On the last page, you ask us to look at the pictures for the springs, yet even at 200%, it is still hard to see, particularly on the left picture the passenger side spring.

Just some of the things I saw that might need some more polish.

Some more details on the difference between 67 and 68 hinges would be useful.

If there are any known sources for the spring engineering numbers, it would be interesting to include.  Service part numbers can be generic in application sometimes and not consider running changes.

Also, there were changes in the date format starting sometime in '66.  I saw the different pictures, although noting transition times to the different date format could be helpful.

The finish of the rivets is something that comes up now and then.  On unrestored cars, the rivets may be lighter color than the phosphate spring parts.  It would make sense that the individual parts were phosphate coated and then assembled.  I have no supporting evidence on that other than personal observations over the years.

One other thing, I have found small stamps, I don't recall exactly... like a 1 with a circle or similar.

It appears that on the first page the middle picture is of a 69/70 hinge and not a 67/68 style hinge like what I think you meant to post since a 69/70 hinge is already posted on the far left of the page.

I think the description for the 67 Shelby spring would be more clear as -Special Shelby spring S7MS-16796-B was commonly used
on 67 Shelby all fiberglass hoods.
It is basically the same thing just a little different .

I noticed this on my hinges, there is a smaller number on the back side of the hinge where the date code is. Example: my driver side hinge has 10 26 2 showing on the outside but on the inside is a small 29. The passenger side has 10 15 3 showing and 20 on the inside.  Anyone know what these numbers represent?

I will make makes some changes and revise what I have to try to get everyones input here.  Thanks for all the comments.

Chris - the small numbers you are looking at are not related to the date codes and I have several examples of those here as well.  Just part of the manufacturing process as I see it.

Ok...update the file and link with changes.

First page makes sense to show all three different hinges.  I was not thinking that but makes sense to have them.
Made portions of the photos larger on the last page.
Added some more information on the change over period from C7 to C9 hood hinges.
Edited the comment on the S7MS springs on last page.
Added comment about no springs being used on early Shelby's.
Added comments on rivet finishes I have seen.

I will stay away from adding engineering numbers as to not make it too technical here.  The goal is to just help when restoring or judging a car as to what is correct and what is not.  And show a visual guide for the differences.

The date codes I see on 65/66 hood hinges seem to be in a more simple format on the arms like I show examples 6 9 2 and 6 28 2.  67-70 date codes seem to be more as the other examples of OB4213 etc.  But either way gives us a way to decode the dates now.

Any other comments let me know.
