Correct Belt Number or diameter?
« on: April 07, 2017, 02:20:38 PM »
Looking through NPD's choices I don't my option as far as the belt required. I am in the process of changing my power steering pump from the Ford type to the eaton type with the special brackets to sit lower to clear the AC compressor. The diameter of the pulley on the pump was 4.25 inches in diameter but the one with the kit is 5.25. The kit also came with a belt as well but really don't want to use a 53 year old belt. There is a number in it but I can't see it at the moment as I write this. I don't see an option for 289 w/ eaton pump and AC. Curious if any one knows the number on the belt. Probably won't get a lot of responses since this setup is not common but thought I'd try.

Thanks,
Chris

Now that I am back home, here is the belt number that came with the kit. I don't show a reproduction belt in npd with that number. Is there any cross reference?

If I am reading the part number correctly I see "C4TE-8620-AC" which is replaced by the C9PZ-8620-S or Motorcraft JB-412 (15/32 x 41 1/4).  Our 8620-19 (has C4TE-8620-S part number ink stamped) is a JB-412

So going back to this thread:

http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=4033.0

says the measurement is 40 1/2, on a C4TE-8620-AC belt, the replacement 8620-S is 41 1/4, will there be any issues or will just need to pull out the pump a little more to tighten?

So I looked closely at the belt, it is actually C4TE-8620-AG.  Again don't see that part number, what would be the replacement belt for this one?

I do not see a listing for a C4TE-AG in any of the books I have.
I looked through my belts and I do have:
C4AE-8620-A (JB-406).  15/32 x 40 3/4 inch.  Our PN# 8620-23
C4AE-8620-B (JB-401).  15/32 x 40 1/8 inch.  Our PN# 8620-35

Scott,

According to the page Jim provided, the dimensions are 15/32" x  45 1/2".  Is there a belt that size that is offered?

I have:
C4TE-8620-AE which is a JB-451 (15/32 x 45 1/8).  Our part number 8620-92
C4TE-8620-AF JB-461L (15/32 x 46 1/8).  Our part number 8620-46
There is a C6TE-8620-S JB-456 15/32 x 45 3/4 but I am guessing you are trying to stick as close to the original C4 part number as you can.
