1969 390 Paint Question
« on: March 15, 2017, 04:54:39 PM »
So I've been reading the MCA judging book as I complete my car. There are a couple of things on the 390 that the standards don't cover. The first is the harmonic balancer spacer. This is unique to the FE in that in breaks the balancer into 2 pieces. According to the standards the balancer is black and the timing cover is blue, but what color is the extension?

The second is the oil filter adaptor. Would this aluminum piece get painted or was it put on with the filter after paint?

Also I'm missing a few rocker stand bolts, specifically one long one and 4 short ones with washers if anybody has any extras.

Thanks for all the help. Eventually I might actually finish this thing!

I have seen the crank sleeve with a little overspray on it any number of times which indicated to me that it was in place during painting. I have not seen them anywhere close to being even half painted on the survivor BB engines that I have observed. Others my have different observations.
