Topic: Power Steering Brake Booster Connection

Does anybody have a picture showing the connection of the power steering booster to the vacuum source for a 65 Mustang?  I looked in my shop manual and did not find anything that would help.  Maybe I missed it?  My Mustang is Dearborn built with an approximate build date of September, 2 1964.  The car has a 289 with an Autolite 4100 and C4 transmission, stock power brakes, power steering, no air conditioning and PCV valve.  The spacer between the carburetor and intake has a PCV port.  The PCV valve and power brake booster are currently both connected to the PCV port on the carburetor spacer via a "T" connector.  Is this correct?  There is a vacuum port on the rear of the intake manifold that is connected to the C4 transmission.

Your vacuum source for the booster should be coming from the rear intake manifold.  You may need to get a different fitting so that the booster hose and tranny can all connect to it.  The only thing that should be connected to the PCV port is the PCV hose.

Thanks Matt.  Good thing hear from you.  I didn't think it was right.  The power assist on the brakes is minimal.  I suspected that the booster should be connected directly to the intake manifold.  Now I just have to figure out how the brake booster and trans vacuum line connect to the single port on the intake manifold.

Here is a pic from pg 4-54 of Bob Mannel's book showing the vacuum block and the power brake tube.  This is from the '64 chapter but styles for '65 remained unchanged.

The part number for the fitting should be 375787-S as shown on the "64-65 Mustang Chassis Assembly Manual", AM005 page 17, with a rough sketch in the "Ford Standard and Utility Parts Catalog, January 1965", page 44.

Thanks Jim and Matt.  I looked through Bob Mannel's Small Block Ford book but totally missed that section.  I see the brake booster line is reproduced but it doesn't look like the intake manifold fitting, 375787-S is reproduced.  I checked ebay for the fitting but came up with nothing.  Does anybody know if the fitting is reproduced?  If not I'm open to contacting a source for getting a good used fitting.

Not sure.  Maybe place a want ad in the forum?  Someone should have one laying around.

Thanks for the link.  From their online parts list, they have a part that may be what I'm looking for.  However, I've dealt with them in the past and even though they have the part listed, it may not be available.  I'll have check with them.  I'm still looking.

No longer need the fitting.  I found one.  Next, I'll install the vacuum lines as they are supposed to be hooked up.  Many thanks to everyone for their help.
