Thanks John, your car was one I was hoping some original images might be available for since your Marti-Report supported build date is AFTER the alleged transition date. Perhaps what we need to be looking at is the TRANSMISSION tag date to pin down a transition time? I have a C4 trans out of a 67, also with the early style Neutral switch and the date code tag has 6M10B code (December 10, 1966) bolted on it (unknown what final assembly plant though).

Here are two pictures that are handy, during the disassembly process.  I can get more close ups when I get out to the shop - the harness are all "prettied up" (clean) at this point.

The second pic shows only the tail end of the short adapter harness, but the color coding is pretty clear.

As far as validating originality, I have learned that I can't say that the transmission nor the harnesses are unequivocally original.  My confidence level of the under dash harness originality is very high.  The transmission is questionable only because the tag was missing, plus the car was high mileage (170k) when I bought it.  The neutral safety switch would be questionable, and the adapter harness is unknown.  Generally speaking though the car remains one of the most original subjects that I've seen, so I lean towards this is the way it was delivered.  As we collect evidence, if mine sticks out like a sore thumb, then I might change to the later style.

I have now looked over these images and information again within this thread.

Dealing ONLY with San Jose cars at this time, I would say that the change-over to the square connector on the Neutral switch was somewhere between
VIN 7R01C1323X & 7R02C1648XX.

That is a fairly large gap. Maybe more examples could help narrow it a little bit. I see that several S-Codes have used this adapter before this change-over also. There are some images I couldn't really make out the details very clearly. These are VINS 7R01C1330X, 7R02S141XXX AND 7R02A2039XX. If anyone notices details that can help determine whether or not A.) There is an adapter present or B.) No Adapter but IS or IS NOT the two-connector type (early style) or the all 4-in-one (later style)

Thanks Richard for providing a wrap up to this point. At least it appears (like in some of the other running changes threads you've identified a focus range of vins that hopefully we can find out more about.
