1969 San Jose Inner Bumper Bracket / U-nut Clips
« on: December 27, 2016, 03:03:32 PM »
When I disabled my October built Mustang, I did not find any clips on the inner bumper brackets. These would
be clips placed out towards the bumper that would secure the bumper guards. My car was not optioned with the
bumper guards, but have seen other Mustangs from Dearborn & Metuchen restored and unrestored with them
in place.... even if they did not have the bumper guard option.

Can anyone tell me if the San Jose assembly lines also had these U-nut clips in place on the 1969 Mustangs?

Thanks, Sean

Attached is an image of a u-nut clip on a Dearborn 1969 Mustang inner bumper bracket.

Can anyone confirm that these were also placed on San Jose 1969 Mustangs during assembly?
Thanks!

Sean I'll look through my pictures and thanks for the picture as it cleared up a question, about your question :) that stalled me from looking last night.

Before I look it is common for the u clips to be installed even though the location will not be used on many parts of the car (radiator mounting ones come to mind) but will conform from original examples

Looked through my pictures and though I could find Deaborn examples with the clips installed even without the option I could not find a San Jose example that was the same.

Must report that the sampling was small but these could always be added quickly if verification did turn up in the future.

Thank you for looking into this Jeff.

I will keep them off the San Jose Mustang until we get some confirmed examples.

Sean

My unrestored 3/69 built San Jose car does not have the clips.

Guess the chance of a difference between Dearborn and San Jose is easy to understand since the arms were supplied by different vendors - reason for different finishes used on each
