John : As usual, "nothing is easy". I looked in my 1965.66 and 67 MPC's, as well as in my 1960-64, 1960-68 and 1965-72 MPC's. Of course neither of the Part No.'s that you noted (both for Lower Radiator Hoses) show up in any of them. While it's possible that one or both might show up in either or both the 1963 or 1964 MPC (Parts and Accessories Catalog), since I have neither, it was time for "Plan B" - a little "Reverse Engineering ".

I began with my 1966 OSI (Obsolete-Superseded- Interchange) book, which is the first year I have after my 1961 OSI. Sure enough, it showed that the C3DZ-8286-E replaced Part No. C3DZ-8286-B. This then just says that sometime between 1963 and 1966, this occurred. So, it was back to the MPC's, looking for the "-B". Once again, no luck.

Next, on to my 1967 OSI. This showed that the C3DZ-8286-E was replaced by  C3DZ-8286-F. Now, back to the MPC's looking for the "-F". Here is where it gets interesting; even though the -E wasn't replaced by the -F until 1967, I went back to my 1965 MPC. Lo and behold, the C3DZ-8286-F shows up for 260 and 289 Mustangs, prior to 08/20/1964. Finding this Part No. in the 1965 MPC, prior to it being shown as replacing the C3DZ-8286-E in 1967, just means that it had another application before it was used to Replace the C3DZ-8286-E.
So, back to the other MPC's. The 1960-64 (printed in 1969), 1966 and 1967 MPC's do not show Part No. C3DZ-8286-F. However, the 1960-68 MPC (printed in 1968) tells a different story. It shows applications for the C3DZ-8286-F as follows ; 1965, 260 and 289 Mustangs with Generators, and 1963 and 1964 Falcons with the 260, with the added note for the Falcons to "Cut 1-11/64" from Radiator End". Finally, on to the 1965-72 MPC (printed in 1975). Being printed 7 years after the 1960-68 MPC, as well as covering additional Model Years, the 1965-72 MPC also included additional instances where the C3DZ-8286-F superseded prior Part No.'s. Besides those noted in the 1960-68 MPC, these include the following; all 1965-67 Fairlanes with 289, 1968 Fairlanes with 289/302's, all 1969 Fairlanes with 302's and 351's, 1965, 289 Mustangs with Alternators, all 1967 Mustangs with 289's, 1968, Mustang 289's without Extra Cooling or A/C, 1969 302 and 351 Mustangs without Extra Cooling or A/C, all 1965-67 289 Falcons, and all 1968-69 302 Falcons.

So, in Summary, what does this mean ? In my opinion, while there may have been an "original" application for the C3DZ-8286-E in 1963 and/or 1964, there is no "original" application for it from 1965 on. Further, as it was "Replaced By" the C3DZ-8286-F somewhere between January of 1966 and January of 1967, the C3DZ-8286-E may or may not fit all of the applications shown for the C3DZ-8286-F. Remember, when a Part is shown as "r/b" (replaced by), this does not necessarily mean that the "replacement" part is "identical" to the part it is replacing, just that it will function as the original part was intended.

Finally, a couple items of note. In all of my "digging", I never came across the C4DE-8286-A Hose. My "newest" OSI Catalog is dated January of 1987, so it may be possible that it shows up after that, though doubtful. Also, the 1987 OSI never shows the C3DZ-8286-F as being replaced, so it appears that it was still available then.

I wish I were able to provide more concrete information, but based on my resources, this is all I was able to confirm.
