Late 67 single exhaust 289 pictures??
« on: November 29, 2016, 02:05:20 PM »
I have a question as it applies to a July 1967 Metuchen coupe..I am curious about the tail pipe hanger on a single exhaust V8 car.  There are no holes in the passenger frame rail forward of the tie-down plates - as pictured in Jeff's post in this thread .  http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=3404.0

But there are two holes rearward of the tie-down plate.  These two holes are one above the other.  Is this where the tail pipe hanger should mount.  I have the two original transverse muffler hangers, but see no evidence of any hangers for the tail pipe.

I have a manual at home...that I can consult if needed.

Thanks,
Mark

Believe that the exhaust pipe hangs front he muffler attachment point with no additional brackets or supports. Likely why they changed in 68

The two vertical holes are for the dual exhaust if the car was so equipped. Additional internal details would be different also

Thank you Jeff. Pictures of this hanger configuration are probably scarce - correct?

Not sure what your referring to - sorry. Just two hangers one on each end of the muffler sort of an L/off set design

System is pretty much a single piece from where it attaches to the H pipe to the tail pipe tip - all welded together.

A few additional shots to help illustrate

Perfect...thank you

Jeff even got you "late" pictures too! Notice the date codes on the muffler & resonator. ;)
