1967 GT 350 (Early 10/66) Glove Box Door ?
« on: December 20, 2016, 02:02:12 PM »
I have 2 glove box doors. The one off the car captioned above has a "smooth" interior panel as pictured in this link: http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=11586.msg69687#msg69687. The other came off a June '67 SJ coupe and has 3 large holes (I think it's 3) knocked in the interior panel as if to lighten it. I assume (at great risk) the smooth door is correct for the 10/66 fastback. Just curious if there was a production change in '67 or why there would be a difference. '67/'68 difference maybe?

Thanks!

I never noticed the knock outs on 67 . I have a first day of production 67 GT350 and a very late 67 production Shelby car here but glove box liners (which cover the door) are in and what with my to do list and the holidays no time soon to look. I hope someone else can help but if not remind me after the holidays and I will look.

Thanks Bob. Had a chance to take a photo (see attached).

Just for the practice and the chance it will provide a clue have you looked for a date stamp on the inner liner panel.

Will look through my pictures and see what I've got to add to the search ;)  Warning though I haven't focuses allot of general interior pictures during trips. Always a choice - spend more time in the engine compartment, under the car, on body details .......? With liners normally in place and glove boxes normally close - not going to be easy collecting data.  Hopefully a few members will find time this week to take a peek at theirs

Jeff - I don't see any stampings on either door.

Only found these three (focusing only on SJ) and though they are a very small sampling they may suggest that it was the later cars. Others may want to see if the style continued into 68 which would suggest/confirm the change and its continued usage into the following model year

7R188xxx
