Timing Marks/Pointer ID ? Answered - 66 cylinder
« on: October 13, 2016, 05:42:23 PM »
Not sure of this part but may be off of a 66-69 Ford 6 cylinder 200 ci motor?  Timing marks are on the part and not the balancer ?  Two bolts with spacers ?  ID it and you need it for something ?  It yours.  Thanks,  Brian

Thanks Josep; Nice picture and that does seem to be the part I posted.  That balanced crank pully doesn't ring any bells ?  Do you have any further information ?  What year, the car, the model that sort of thing ?  Brian

Brian, I'm trying to collect more info about the part, but information about the car I already have it.!
The picture is from my car, and in my signature you have all that information.
It's a 66 San Jose Hardtop 200 I6 Thermactor.

OK good.  Makes sense most likely came off my 66 San Jose hard top, smog, and automatic.  Thanks,  Brian

Brian, here is the explanation for this timing pointer given me from a good friend of mine.

That part is the Timing Pointer.
If you turn the crankshaft slowly with the 13/16" socket that I sent you will see a notch appear on the crankshaft pulley. That mark represents the place where the #1 piston is at TDC- Top Dead Center when it is aligned with the 0 on the pointer. To check the engine spark timing you connect a timing light to the #1 spark plug wire and start the engine. The timing light is a strobe light and it illuminates every time the #1 spark plug fires and you can clearly see the notch align with the pointer. I have attached a diagram showing how the pointer should be marked with numbers.
