289 K code engine value?
« on: August 06, 2016, 01:43:59 PM »
Hi all
Friend of mine found a Model T (somewhat famous here in the San Francisco Bay Area) and it has a K code 289. Here are some details: 6R09K165610
Never been rebuilt, has the correct Dual point distributor, correct fan, correct fuel pump(needs rebuild) Valve Covers, Intake, exhaust manifold and even the original yellow top coil still. Missing correct carb.
So, how much is this worth?
Thanks
Stan

I would suggest that the first thing to do (though I think its going to not be a match) is to contact the SAAC Registry for the 66 Shelbys and see if the VIN matches a 66 Shelby. If so, you might be able to work a deal and get the engine back to the original car. A good first stop IMHO just to be sure

Lacking this I'll leave value to others what buy and sell much more often than I

Stan,
From a quick scan of the HP forum, there was one posted from an e-bay listing at $9,500. It didn't sell. The VIN you entered is not in the HP registry, not unusual, nor the Mustang Production Guide, also not unusual. As in any sale, it's the laws of price and demand. In pieces it might be worth more only because the carburetor is missing. They go for $1000-1500.
Check with the HP forum http://www.hipomustang.com/hpmx/ in the parts pricing section at the bottom of the page. Fred keeps an eye out for HP parts and his efforts may give you a better idea.

I'll take a couple C6ZF-F models used on the '66 K-code (auto), incl. '66 GT350 (auto) for $1500.
P.T. Barnum was right -
I note the choke plate is missing and I assume the entire RH side is questionable.
