67 upper console retaining clip fastener 379870
« on: August 04, 2016, 09:54:34 PM »
I found a discrepancy with the assembly manual (nothing new) but figured this might help someone out.  See the attached document.

As for the clip 379870 it seems to me that this was also used on the single wire used to clip the under hood light power feed as it traverses along the cross brace/export brace from the starter relay area up to the firewall and then up the hood.  It looks like a good one to use to attach single wires to the edge of metal (sheet metal, brackets...) and may have a few other uses.

Has anyone  else see this little guy used on 67's and if so, where?

You can sometimes still find one in place in front of the trunk opening attached to the reinforcement panel between the rear window and the trunk opening. The one with all the square and rectangle cut outs in it

Know I've got a couple of pictures of one there  - will look

It's closer to 372302-S100 and/or 372303-S100, AMK B-10723 2014 cat, pg 144. Note the "hook" end in your .pdf pictures 6 thru 8. 372302-S100 and 372303-S100 are listed as the retainers in the 67 Electrical Assembly Manual, E7-8612-1.
It's late, I'll check the books tomorrow. Info from 67-68 Hardware Spreadsheet.

Corrected referenced page from E7-8512-1 to E7-8612-1. Removed reference E7-8621-1.

In your picture 1, electrical components are not usually shown in the Interior Assembly Manual .
In your picture 3, the wire retainer is part of the wiring harness.
In your picture 9, the staples for the insulation and the insulation are part of a subassembly so they would not be in the Interior Assembly Manual.
In your picture 10, the screw shown appears to be longer than the 7/8 screw specified.
In your picture 11, the wafer head screws are probably the same ones, 380858-S2, used to attach the side rail weatherstrip. (A side note, Ford may have gone to drill tip screws to eliminate a drilling step, so these may be that same drill tip type. there is a difference in that the weatherstrip uses a 10-16 and the AMK Guide only has a 8-18 size listed.)
In your picture 12, the pan head screws appear to be as called out, the washers are not. I would consider the use of the washers to be a better method as their use provides a larger "footprint" for attaching the console to the bracket.

Jim, I just knew I had you hooked merely by including the word fastener in my post :)

John,
Partially true, I looked up 379870-S(x) in my master listing to see where it was used. It was not listed (it's AMK Guide, pg 246). Then you got my undivided attention.

John that clip is used to hold the dome light wire on coupes.

Thought so too but it is shaped differently then the ones I've seen elsewhere  (67 San Jose coupe application - 7R01C1972xx ) Possible there were other styles used during different times and plants. Only one original example

Will see if I can find the other (different finish and shape) in my collection
