I probably already know my answer however after some searching i haven't come up with a solid one yet. I have a new set tires for my 66 coupe c code. Before i mount them I've been thinking about possibly getting a set of styled steel wheels. Being a very basic c code auto Im pretty certain the car would have been delivered with just the standard non spinner cover. Im currently driving on non spinners and showing with a nice set of spinners. If these are correct id hate to switch to the styled steel wheel since its probably not what came on the car even though i prefer the look of them. My question is on my build sheet the wheel cover box is blank. This is the only documentation I have on the car other than the buck tag. Can I assume that the blank box would indicate just a standard wheel cover?

Styled steels came with the GT package but where added by many dealers and sold that way off the show room floor.

ss wheels were not part of the gt package. they were a stand alone option both factory & dealer.

True. At least on my 65 GT Fastback built San Jose, 11 May 65 (a Tuesday). See attached.
I'm not sure when they were first offered.

In Pete Bush's buildsheet thread, he lists the following codes for the WHL CVR - FEND SHLD box:


WHL CVR – FEND SHLD

1   Wheel Covers   
2   Wheel Covers – Steel Style   
3   Steel Style Wheels   
4   Wire Wheel Covers     
5   Wheel Covers – KO Hubs
6   Fender Shields
7   Knock-Off Covers & Fender Shields

However, it seems like this box is usually left blank on Mustangs.

As a matter of fact I was able to confirm with my build sheet that my '66 GT fastback came with standard wheels covers AND dual red line tires!

Blank is what I got on build sheet. Dealer invoice has 695x14 White Wall Nylon Tires however no reference to wheels.

Blank/no designation would normally mean standard equipment.
