Extra Leg Room Drivers side
« on: June 20, 2016, 03:59:38 PM »
Anyone have any good methods for getting a couple extra inches of leg room on a 70 Mach?  Almost done with car and having recently test drove it a couple inches for a guy 6'3" would go a long way.  I don't want to drill new holes or even modify the seat pan so looking for help.  Are there any seat extenders that will not raise the seat that you have had success with.

Thanks
Rob

I know that you don't want to replace seat floor pans / risers.

But, for future viewers of this thread, Cougar seat risers are about 1 inch shorter than Mustang ones (1967-68 and 1969-70). They are only available used, and the reason they are shorter, is because the Cougar seats had thicker foam in the seat buns.

Seen a number of owners make a new bracket that goes between the original and the floor (would require two addition holes in the seat risers for each seat)  that would set the seat rearward a few extra inches (far enough so the rear stud is rearward of the seat riser). I can not recommend just out of concern for liability reasons for myself and the site

There was a dealer fix for the problem which moved the seat rearward in a TSB article #269 as shown below

Update: 7-17-16

Ordered and installed the seat track extenders from NPD for my drivers seat.  The extra 2 inches is exactly what I needed since I am 6'3".  The angle that I now push in the clutch pedal is so much better and way more comfortable.  For those of you who are tall I highly recommend.  Driving is much more enjoyable now.
