Topic: 1970 emission canister

I picked up this very nice emission canister that I am going to use for my 1970 project. I suspect that its a later service replacement as its made of tin and not steel like my original and its clean and undamaged. It has a white paint mark on the top and I was wondering if it means anything as I haven't seen it before.

Why do you say it's "tin"? Do you mean tin-plated steel, or possibly zinc-coated steel?

Have not seen the white mark on others.

You'll need to change the mounting bracket for your application but you likely already knew that

I called it tin as I couldn't find the proper words to describe the finish. It could well be a zinc or tin coated steel and it weighs a lot less than the original. I was surprised to find the metal surface shiny and corrosion free which is a big difference from my original which looks to be steel with the bottom rusted out. The corrosion has come from the inside, which means that it picked up a lot of moisture from somewhere.
