Wanted: 65 Hipo Road Draft Tube
« on: February 13, 2013, 11:41:40 AM »
Looking for a 65 289 Hipo Road Draft Tube.  This would mount to the passenger valve cover and is specific to the Hipo.  Might consider a regular (non-hipo) valve cover road draft tube for modification.

Thanks,
Rich

I have 2 std ones in nice shape, although one is missing the brackets.  Send me a PM if interested.

Is the hipo tube the same as an early four barrel car?  Might have one from an old four bbl car stashed .

It's different.  Different brackets and bends to clear the Hipo exhaust.  The most noticeable differences I can see are the brackets are both attached to the rearward side of the tube on the regular one, where the Hipo version has one attached to the front and one to the rear.  See attached pictures from Bob Mannel's book.  The first picture should look like yours if it's valve cover mounted.  The 3rd is the Hipo tube.

That's actually a regular one.  Thanks for the heads-up.  I talked to the seller, and he changed his ad.  I've found several regular ones for sale and might go that route, but still looking for a Hipo.

The most noticeable difference is the Hipo has the top bracket mounted to the back of the tube and the lower bracket mounted to the front.  The regular has both brackets mounted to the rear of the tube.  The bends are different as well to clear the Hipo exhaust, but probably hard to tell unless they are side by side.

Thanks,
Rich
